Obituary of Mary ( Klock ) Mount

Mrs. Mary Klock Mount, widow of David M. Mount, died at their home on Church St., this village, at 11 Monday Morn., after an illness of three weeks with heart trouble. She was 83 yrs. old and one of the oldest and best known residents of Three Mile Bay. Mrs. Mount was born near St. Johnsville, in Montgomery Co., July 22, 1842, the daughter of the late Harvey and Harriet Klock. When she was 3 yrs. of age (1845) Her parents moved here and she had been a resident since that time. On June 10th. 1866, Mrs. Mount became a member of the Three Mile Bay Baptist Church and had devoted much of her live to church work and the spreading of Christianity. She has been a power for good in the community for 59 yrs. She was a member of the W.C.T.U., the Philathea class and Ladies Aid Society of the Church. Mrs. Mount is survived by one son, George D. Mount, of this Village; by one daughter Mrs. Pearl Phelps, of Chaumont; by one sister, Mrs. Harriett Klock Bennett, of Flint, Mich; three granddaughters, Alice Mount, of Wilkesbarre, Pa., Donald Phelps, of Watertown, and and Allen Chamers, of Watertown and one great-grandson, Robert Phelps, of Watertown. The funeral was held from the Mile Bay Baptist Church, Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. Gordon L. Nichols officiating assisted by Rev. G.A.

Foots. Burial was made in the Three Mile Bay Cemetery next to her husband, David M. Mount. They had four children: Mary, George D. Mount, Fred B. Mount, Matie Mount.
