BELOVED DANUBE LADY DEAD

Mrs. Martha Klock Passed Away in Little Falls Hospital

Little Falls, Dec. 21. Another well loved old Danube resident was lost to life at 2 o’clock this morning when Mrs. Martha C. Klock, widow of Byron Klock, died at the local hospital. Mrs. Klock had been a sufferer from gallstones and on a Saturday under went an operation for relief, but because of her age she was unable to withstand the shock.

The deceased came from a fine old Palatine family, daughter of Urial and Nancy Wick Christman. She was born on the 4th of February, 1853. On the 15th of August, 1877 she was united in marriage at at Amsterdam to Bryon Klock, one of Danube’s most substantial citizens. Mr. Klock brought his bride to his farm home, which was located on a cross road leading from the Finchs Basin-Indian Castle road to the Paradise road and they resided there for 39 years, prospered and brought up a fine family. Mr. Klock died 15 years ago, since which time the deceased had resided with her son, Reuben on the river road, town of Manhelm. She was a devoted mother and a lady who was respected by all who knew her.

Besides the son named she is survived by two other sons. Arthur C., principal of a school in New Haven, Conn. and Kenneth, residing on the old homestead; also by eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be held from the Reuben Klock home at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Rev. T.J. Monadue, pastor of the St. Paul’s Universalist chuch of this city which the deceased attended, officiating. Burial in Fair View cemetery.
