Licensed Practical Nurse

Margaret E. Cagwin, 82, formerly of Flower Avenue East, died Friday at Gensis Health Care, where she had resided for three years.

Mrs. Cagwin was a nurse's aid at Mercy Hospital before becoming a licensed practical nurse at the House of the Good Samaritan, retiring in 1979.

Born Oct. 20, 1914 in Watertown, daughter of Elmer and Fanny Sanford Klock, she received her General Equivalency Diploma in 1966 and a licensed practical nurse degree in 1968 from House of the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. She attended Jefferson Community College where she studied nursing, science and psychology.

Mrs. Cagwin lived in Stone Mills, LaFargeville and Clayton before her marriage. She married Eldon Cagwin on Feb. 25, 1933. The couple lived in Adams Center before moving to Wattertown. The marriage ended in divorce. Mr. Cagwin died Nov. 13, 1993.

Mrs Cagwin was an avid bottle collector and enjoyed collectibles. Surviving are a son, Morris, Saranac Lake, three daughters, Barbara Goodrich, Baldwinsville, Mrs. George (Peggy) Flaherty, Adams Center, and Mrs. Thomas (Trudy) Burns, Laredo, Texas; nine grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. A brother, Edson Klock, and a sister Thelma Goodwin, died before her.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the D. L. Calarco Funeral Home with Norman Hunneyman officiating. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown.
