George Andrew White, 55, of 12421 Hershey Road, Texico, Ill., formerly of Benson Mines, died of cancer Sunday at his home.

Born May 21, 1944, in Madrid, son of Kenneth and Vivian Jackson White, he attended Clifton-Fine Central School. Marriages to Sally Tebo and Diane Pippy ended in divorce. He married Nancy J. Lingle Fry on Dec. 3 0, 1998, in Mount Vernon, Ill.

Mr. White, who moved from Benson Mines to Illinois in 1961, owned and operated H&W Construction Co., Mount Vernon.

He served in the Navy from 1961 to 1965, and was an avid boater.

Mr. White was a member of Mount Vernon Moose Lodge 755, the Boilermakers Union Local 636, Belleville, Ill., and Carpenters Union Local 636, Geneva, Ill.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Tammy Beasley, Pittsburg, Ill., and Kathy Merkley, Star Lake; a son, Kenny, Mount Vernon; two stepdaughters, Aubrey and Austin Fry, Marion; a brother, Merrill, Potsdam; three sisters, Margaret Boula, Betty Hitchman and Marilyn White, all of Star Lake, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Wednesday at Rose Hill Cemetery, Mario n, Ill. Arrangements were with Hughey Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, Il .

Local arrangements are with Hawley Funeral Home.

George A White was the son of Kenneth George White and Vivian Jackson. Vivian Jackson was the daughter of Andrew S. Jackson and Hannah E. Klock Jackson, (Bates Aaron, Luther, John J. Jr., John J., Johannes J. and Hendrick Klock).
